Artist Biography

Recent Achievements

A Canadian artist, Lorna Matsuda originally born in Ontario however now proudly calls Alberta home where she felt an immediate connection with the west. The western lifestyle with its unlimited resources of beautiful landscapes, wildlife and culture offered a great inspiration for her current artistic impressions seen in many of her works of art.

It's been said her love for all animals, especially horses was inherited from her Grandparents who were very dominant horsemen in the community where she grew up. While she shares love for all animals, horses have always been her first love for as long as she could remember which has affected her actions both professionally and recreationally throughout her life. As a constant voice for animal rights against cruelty she has donated many works over the years to various organizations to help stop the abuse against animals.

While always an artist for life, Lorna has had the opportunity in the past decade to really dedicate herself to the serious pursuit of her passion. This dedication has allowed her to share her many artistic impressions offered through various mediums such as paper, canvas, bone, leather, wood and stone. As a self-taught artist she always felt a calling towards a realist approach always paying particular attention to the details of each subject, striving to capture the emotion and expression bringing life to the piece.

Constantly she strives to improve her unique technique and style in every piece of artwork she creates with the goal to create a visual and emotional experience for the viewer while hoping to bring a deeper meaning behind each painting.
